Thule's Most Adaptable Saddle System for Watersports

Thule's 878XT Set-to-Go Rooftop Kayak Carrier is their most adaptable basic system for transporting watersport equipment. The system features 100 percent tool-free installation and is built around a pair of Thule Set-to-Go saddles which attach in minutes to virtually any roof rack including Thule square load bars, Thule Rapid Aero bars, round bar systems and factory racks using a combination of bolts, metal brackets and securing knobs. Set-to-Go Saddles are extremely adjustable via an ergonomic knob at the base of each. This adjustability alters the contours of its inward facing rubberized pads which allows for maximum hull contact, and usability with a wide variety of watercraft including kayaks, rowing shells, surfboards or sailboards. Ideally two Thule Hydro-Glide saddles (sold separately) would be used as the two rear-oriented saddles of this carrier configuration, but existing smooth faced saddles or rollers will work as well. Once boats are slid across rear-oriented saddles, the firm hold of the Set-to-Go saddles allow for maximum stability and protection against lateral movement, with the result being overall transport stability that can be counted on.

Beyond the stability of the saddles alone, the Thule 878XT Set-to-Go Rooftop Kayak Carrier also includes a strap to secure your the front portion of your kayak to the load bars of your rack. (Straps for the rear end of your kayak sold separately) The Thule 878XT Set-to-Go Rooftop Kayak Carrier also contains bow and stern tiedowns with ratcheting QuickDraw hook attachments to further secure mounted kayaks to your bumper or tow hook by way of your kayak's grab handles. Use of these last two components is easy. Once the standard hook is attached at one end of the rope and hooked to chosen positions along your bumpers at both ends, attach the QuickDraw racheting hooks to the opposite ends of both lengths of rope and connect this to kayak grab handles. Pull the free ends of the tiedown ropes connected to the QuickDraw hooks to the desired tightness to secure the hold. To release front and rear connections press the lever located above the ratcheting spool of the QuickDraw.

About Thule

Thule was founded in 1942 by the Thulin family, when Eric Thulin, a true lover of the outdoors, put the Thule name on a pike trap he designed and began to sell in Scandinavia. It wasn't long before he added other practical items to the company's portfolio. By the 1960s, the company began to concentrate on car-related products, including its first roof rack. The Thulin family sold Thule to the publicly listed company Eldon in 1979, and it has continued to grow both organically and through acquisitions ever since. The Thule Group is a world leader in providing transport solutions for an active life.
